SIX! FIVE! FOUR!

I guess before i finish this, it will be down to three. But I say it's not a new day until some amount of sleep has been had.

Today was a spa day at Shalimar, compliments of Ryan's mom and grandma. I had a massage, mud bath, facial, and pedicure. On Friday I'll get my manicure. Ryan also had the full works (sans nail polish). We were there for four ridiculously relaxing hours.

And in short, the highlight of yesterday was a surprise personal shower that Kerri and Steph threw. If I knew about it ahead of time - especially how many people were going to be there - I would have been horrified. But it was really great. I got tons of stuff. That's three showers now!

Well, Erin should be arriving in about an hour. Sleep is precious so I'm going to my cozy bed until then.

EIGHT! SEVEN!

It was so smoky out at my parent's house last night that it felt like camping. I got a huge craving for bannock baked on a stick over a fire.
But. It's not all gooey, delicious bread and tenting, because there is a chance we could be evacuated because of the fires. People in Slocan were already. I hope it rains like crazy. But then stops and settles down to a good, danceable temperature by the wedding.

NINE!

"Take two walks in two different cities
Take two walks that feel like one.
I’ll be standing on the corner
Just like you’re the one who’s come
Oh my hands will both be empty
Down through dear old Kensington
In my heart I’m holding on
To the hands of whom I love

As you turn down On to green point
As you walk thru Brooklyn Heights
I’ll be heading Down the same roads
Underneath my city’s lights
Prone to wander oh I feel it
Prone to leave the town I love
Here’s my heart oh
Take and seal it
City lights glow down above

In due time I’ll really know you
In due time I’ll know the way
Through the streets right to your village
Through the darkness of the day
Like I know I’ve always known it
Like I lived around the way
Holy timing
It all fell in place today

Though my hands will both be empty
Down thru dear old Kensington
Prone to wander oh I feel it
Prone to leave the town I love
Like I know I’ve always known it
Like I’ve lived around the way
Holy timing
It all fell in place today"

- lyrics of Woodpigeon's 'A Hymn for Two Walks in Different Cities'. The first melody we will dance to as a married couple.

...nine more days.

Free Spirit Sphere

We're staying here for one night on our honeymoon. Isn't it marvelous?

TEN!

In the eagerness of our gratitude, I sprained my ankle.
There is a massive mound of gifts lying in the dining room from the two wedding showers (and engagement party) that have been thrown for us. Ryan designed some delightful thank you cards with all sorts of woodland creatures on it, which we promptly filled out and enveloped.
That was two weeks ago.
So - finally - we decided to deliver them. Quickly. Too quickly. Dashing from gift-giver's house to gift-giver's house in flip-flops.... and then I was down.
I've sprained my ankles many times but this was quite excruciating, actually. Still is.

BUT. The reason I actually write this story is not to complain or be pitied (although I do hope for a fantasticly gruesome bruise to show off), but to gush about how sweet Ryan is.
He just helped me hobble into my house (I wouldn't let him carry me over the threshold - a little early for that) and then he ran up the dauting flight of stairs to the bathroom to collect my toothbrush and things. Before that, he bought me Advil and found me some ice and humored me by telling me I was strong (I cried like a baby).

And tonight was our 9 month dating anniversary. He took me to Cafe Kas. The chef often doesn't have any servers so he does everything himself, including a persuasive speech about why you should not complain that there isn't a menu and let him cook you what he wants for $30 a plate. No problem there. So we had bread with oil and white balsamic vinegar, a grilled caesar salad, escargot, brie with roasted garlic... and that was just the appetizers. The main dish was a heaping pile of organic veggies with generous portions of chicken, duck, his famous lamb, and haddock. The suggested shiraz-cabernet was perfect. Dessert was white chocolate ice cream with a raspberry center.
Amazing.

Our 9 month dating anniversary just happened to coincide with our ten-days-until-marriage celebration. Ten days! It feels like the most natural thing in the world that we will soon vow to help each other and be together forever. I love him.

Is it weird that the only thing that I'm nervous about is if I might have to limp up the aisle and around the dance floor?
